Guide to the World Cup in Marlborough’s Pubs

It’s just a week now until the World Cup kicks off, so we’ve been asking around to see which pubs are doing what in Marlborough...

THE CROWN (in the Parade)
They will be showing World Cup games and bottle beers will be cheaper for the World Cup period. They’d thought about dressing up and doing food from the countries which reached the final, but with Jazz Weekend falling the same weekend this seems more unlikely now.
Not only will they be showing games, but are also getting a big screen/ projector in especially for the World Cup.
Definitely showing games and will probably have some drinks promotions on, but not known yet.
The games will be shown in The Bear and there may possibly be drinks promotions.
Also definitely showing the games, and if England should reach the final there will certainly be some kind of celebration.
THE QUEEN'S HEAD (in St. Martin's)
Will be showing the games.
THE CONSERVATIVE CLUB
They will have it on the telly.
They will be showing just the England Games.
The Castle and Ball will be showing the games, but they will have the volume off, keeping football lovers and haters relatively happy all round.
FOOTBALL FREE ZONES
Apparently not everyone is interested in the World Cup, so if you fall in to this category and want to be able to go for a quiet drink and avoid the crowds, the THE ROYAL OAK will be the place to go.
Still trying to get hold of the The Roebuck.
England are in Group C. Their first game is on Saturday June 12th at 8.30pm against the USA- for details of this and other games see this link to the FIFA website.
If you know anything about the plans other pubs in the Marlborough Area have, let us know below....

Apologies, I said the time of the game last Saturday was 8.30pm- obviously it was 7.30- just a warning that unless you change it to your own time zone the FIFA Website tells you game time in the (South African) local time- so that's where I got the info! I hope that didn't mean anyone else almost missing it!

ReportI went down to The Lamb for the England game, what an electric atmosphere. It kind of made up for the miserable performance on pitch. I'll be heading there again for the Algeria game! En-ger-land!
