The magic of Alice in Wonderland brought a ray of sunshine to an otherwise soggy to Marlborough Fun Day on Sunday.

Children joined the fun-filled Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, in association with local theatre troupe Curious Company and Sarah Hicks personal Catering, during the day-long event, on Marlborough Common.

Alice, Dormouse, Hare and the Mad Hatter himself entertained children during three sittings of the tea party in the We Love Marlborough Arts Area.

Meanwhile, visual artist Nicky Leigh helped children to design and make masks during a mask-making workshop.

And it was We Love Marlborough to the rescue, as the fancy dress competition was moved from an outdoor arena to the comfort of the Arts Area marquee during one of the heaviest downpours of the day – sparing children from a soaking during the judging.

Outside the Arts Area, attractions included a car boot sale and the ever-popular Scruffs dog show. Sideshows included inflatables, helicopter rides, mini quad bikes and live music.
