A 'speed dating' networking event for members of the

business community and artists will be held in Marlborough at the end of the

month.

'Lonely Arts' is based on the successful networking event

of the same name held in 2008, during which artists and local businesses were

brought together to form meaningful and lasting relationships.

The event was a launch-pad for the ShopArt project, which

for the past two years has seen Marlborough turned into a virtual gallery, with

40 local artists displaying their work in 40 shop windows throughout July.

It also spawned the sponsorship of events ranging from

comedy and cabaret performances, through stilt-walking and opera on Christmas

lights night, to art exhibitions in offices and outdoor art markets in the

town.

The event, which is grant funded by Wiltshire Council,

celebrates a three-year relationship between Marlborough Chamber of Commerce,

and We Love Marlborough, an arts and culture organisation which promises to put

Art at the Heart of Marlborough.

Peter Davison, president of the Chamber of Commerce,

said: "Business relationships between artists and companies are beneficial

to both parties. Performances and exhibitions give supporting businesses the

chance to raise their profile, entertain clients, prospective clients and

staff, demonstrate their community spirit and have a lot of fun along the

way."

Lonely Arts will be held at Nataraj Artspace at the Old

Rope Works, The Parade, Marlborough (opposite the Fire Station) from 4.30pm on

Tuesday, March 30 and is free to attend. For more information and booking
