Pewsey Road Bridge: re-opening postponed.
The re-opening, which was due to take place next Tuesday December 7th has been postponed because due to the cold weather it has not been possible to pour the concrete for the deck as programmed.
A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said yesterday,
“We are hopeful that the weather will improve as forecast and that the rescheduled pour will go ahead on Monday 6th with the road reopening on Friday 10th December. We are employing extra measures on site to ensure that the temperatures are sufficient to allow the pour to take place.
The contractors are continuing to work on other sections of the bridge which means that this should not delay the work programme overall.
Meanwhile the icy roads certainly won’t be tempting many people to drive anywhere- my street is like an ice rink! So perhaps this would be a good time to start your Christmas shopping in Marlborough.
