Whether you’re after a romantic meal on New Year’s Eve or a boogie down your local, here’s what’s on offer in Marlborough this year...

Dressing up/ Disco/ Dancing

From 6pm on New Years Eve The Roebuck are having a 70s theme night with 70s fancy dress and a retro 70s menu (see the Restaurants section below). There will be 70s music until 10.30pm, when the Roebuck-aoke (karaoke) kicks off.

Marlborough Town Football Club knows how to throw a party judging by the Marlborough Musedy Festival that they host every year. They will have a band and disco on New Year’s Eve, but prices are yet to be decided, so look out for posters or call the club (contact details on the MTFC link above) for more details nearer the time.

At The Royal Oak it’s optional fancy dress, no ticket required.

Happy Hour as usual between 8 and 9 in the downstairs bar of Azuza, then the club will be open from 11pm-4.30am. £3 entry between 11 and 12, then £4 after midnight.

In Manton The Outside Chance is having a 60s and 70s New Year’s Eve Party, £20 per person includes your first drink, buffet and bacon sandwiches at 12, disco and entertainment.

Ramsbury Legion will be holding their usual New Year’s Eve Disco, stopping at midnight to sing “auld lang syne” and wish in the New Year. New members welcome.

There will be a red, white and blue fancy dress party from 9 onwards at Great Bedwyn Royal British Legion, which is also open to the community.

Restaurants- set menu options

The set, 5 course menu at The Pagoda comes in at about £23 a head, and Blue Orchid Thai say they are open until 11 and if you’d like them to prepare a set menu for you they’d be delighted to do so.

As part of their 70’s themed night above, The Roebuck are doing a menu of 70s food, with classic 70s options such as Duck a L’orange and Sherry Trifle! £25 per person for three courses includes coffee and After Eights. Food should be pre-booked, pop in for a menu or call and ask them to e-mail it to you.

There will be a set menu at Godot’s between 6 and 8 pm with a choice of Partridge or Beef Wellington, but from 9 onwards it will be canapés, drinks and dancing- no ticket required.

At The Crown it will be optional black tie for their 3 course dinner, which will cost £35 a head.

On offer at Brasserie Gerard is a 3 course menu including a glass of Champagne on arrival, coffee and live entertainment for £44.95.

At Coles the set menu is £49.50 which includes your glass of New Year’s Champagne and VAT.

Open as normal, no tickets or set menu:

The Lamb will be open for business as normal, as will The Green Dragon, who will be “cranking up the jukebox”.

Food wise ASK and Pizza Express will still be offering their Christmas menus alongside their regular ones, and will be closing at 11 and 10.30 respectively. The Raj Indian Restaurant will be open until 11.30.
