One

year on from the opening of the new St John’s in Marlborough, a group of year

10 textiles students have celebrated the new building by creating a series of

woven panels reusing some of the packaging materials that were used in the

move.

Led

by teacher Mrs Katie Griffin, the students collected a variety of packaging

from new furniture, as well as many of the carrier bags used by staff in the

mammoth packing exercise that took place throughout Autumn 2009.

The

materials have now been cut, knitted, woven, sewn and knotted to create the

stunning series of panels that are now hanging in the main atrium at St John’s. The designs are based around a rainforest

theme to celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity.
