An elderly lady was shopping in Marlborough High Street on Saturday 26th July when she became the victim of a callous thief who stole her handbag.

The lady had her handbag in a shopping trolley and it is believed that the bag was taken at some point between 1-1.50 pm. The victim retraced her steps but the bag couldn’t be found.

She reported the loss of her debit/credit cards to her bank within half an hour of discovering the bag was missing, but her card had already been used and a total of £600 had been taken from her account.

Officers would like to speak to the woman pictured in the attached CCTV images in connection with the incident.

PSCO Mark Braithwaite said: ‘I would like to hear from anyone who has information regarding the incident or who can help with identifying the woman pictured. Bag thefts cause a great deal of inconvenience and distress for victims and we need the assistance of the public to trace the person responsible.’

Anyone who has information should contact PCSO Mark Braithwaite on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information may be left anonymously if preferred.
