A SIMPLE WAY TO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE

Marlborough Climate Pledge tell us that new research by the Grantham Institute for Climate Change, Imperial College suggests that by turning electrical appliances off at the mains and installing energy-efficient light bulbs, we could cut the UK’s CO2 emissions by up to a third per year. That’s equivalent of removing about 10 large gas-fired power stations from operation.

They also remind us that we only have until August 20th to fill in the Wilts County Council online survey by for new recycling proposals.

HOW TO STOP JUNK MAIL

Marlborough Climate Pledge also have some tips on how to stop junk mail. Royal Mail's Door-to-Door Opt-Out is a free service that will stop unaddressed mail items delivered by the postman. You first need to ask Royal Mail to send you an 'Opt-Out Confirmation Form' in the post by sending an email with your name and full address to optout@royalmail.com

The Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is a free service to enable consumers to have their names and home addresses in the UK removed from lists used by the direct mail industry. You can register online at http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr

If you still get junk mail despite signing up to MPS, phone our local delivery office (517162 - mornings). It's usually because of temporary postmen, but sometimes a name slips off the list.
