Kennet is the 17th highest energy user in the UK according to DECC data.
With an annual spend of £1458.91 per household, Kennet residents come in the highest 5% of energy users in the UK in terms of money spent on energy bills, according to data from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
However the South West as a whole (at the time of writing this) is the most energy conscious region in the country, scoring “brilliant” on Alertme.com’s swingometer which shows the UK’s energy saving habits. The swingometer updates every ten minutes and shows how energy used in the past 24 hours compares with what would be expected based on past behaviour.
In order to help reverse the trend in Kennet, or Marlborough at least, you can find energy saving tips at the alertme.com and Energy Saving Trust websites. If you live locally and want to find out more about environmental issues in general, it might be worth getting in touch with Marlborough Climate Pledge. As well as holding and participating in specific events, the group have casual monthly meet ups in local pubs. Here are the details of this month’s Green Drinks, everyone is welcome!
