Wiltshire Council will be providing questionnaires for children aged 15 and under in sixteen of its libraries including Marlborough and Aldbourne from 27th September to 2nd October.
Staff in the libraries will be on hand to help fill the questionnaires out, and parents and carers of younger children will be asked to complete the survey on their child’s behalf.
The sixteen libraries involved in the survey have been chosen because they represent a range of communities and different sized libraries.
It is hoped the council will find out how children currently use its libraries and discover how satisfied they are with the services.
Sarah Hillier, county children’s and young people’s librarian, said: “I am looking forward to seeing the results and reading the comments raised in the questionnaires. It will be especially interesting to find out why and how children and young people use our libraries and how we are helping them with their reading, homework and other areas of their lives.”
The survey is based on a national model, children’s PLUS, and is being conducted in libraries throughout England. The survey is conducted every three years.
