The summer holidays are almost upon us, so here are some ideas for activities to entertain children and young people in Marlborough over the coming weeks...

MARLBOROUGH LEISURE CENTRE- CAMP ACTIVATE
Camp Activate at Marlborough Leisure Centre kicks off next Monday (July 26th), and runs for 5 weeks. Age groups are split into 5yrs-7yrs, 8yrs-10yrs and 11yrs-14yrs. Activities tend to follow the theme of the week, but are tailored to meet the different needs of our the groups. The themes are:
Week 1- The World Around Us
Week 2- Alternate and Adventure
Week 3- Entertainment
Week 4- The Great Outdoors
Week 5- Olympic
Every day an expert in a certain field will share their subject or sport in the Skill Spot slot of the day.
•Full day £24:00 (concession £17.25)
•Half Day £11.50 (concession £9.00)
To book your child will need a Leisure Card. These cost £5.50 per child for one year’s membership.

MARLBOROUGH RFC SUMMER CAMP
August 23-25th, 9.30-3.30. £80 for the course. Age groups 5-16 years.
Includes scrum and lineout coaching with Mattie Stewart, and exclusive Q&A session with the former Scotland and Northampton Player.

MARLBOROUGH COLLEGE SUMMER SCHOOL
The summer school at Marlborough College offers a wide range of courses for young people, from Fly Fishing to Street Hip Hop. Dates, courses and prices can be found on the Marlborough College Summer School website.
SUPER CAMPS
There is a Super Camps multi activity day camp at St. Francis School in Pewsey. A wide number of activities are on offer every day including archery and motor quads, or much tamer options if required! Standard rate prices are Daily, £32 and weekly £144.

MARLBOROUGH LEISURE CENTRE
If you are aged 16 years or under you can swim for free at Marlborough Leisure Centre (at the time of “going to press”- call Leisure Centre to double check). Here is the summer timetable for Marlborough Leisure Centre pool.
MARLBOROUGH LIBRARY
The twelfth annual Summer Reading Challenge, Space Hop, is part of an exciting free library promotion.
The Summer Reading Challenge is an immensely popular and successful reading initiative. It is created and run by The Reading Agency, the independent charity working to inspire people to read more, and is supported by children’s publishers.
Space Hop is not a competition, but a personal challenge which offers reading inspiration and incentives to encourage children into libraries, at a time when schools are closed.
Large print Summer Reading Challenge materials are available for visually impaired children, thanks to the support of the RNIB National Library Service.
As part of the Space-Hop the following activities are taking place at Marlborough Library:

Wednesday July 28th 9.45-10.30. For children under 7- bring a teddy with you!
Aliens Love Underpants- The Rescue Mission
Wednesday August 11th 10.30-11.30. For ages 5-10. *Please obtain your free ticket for this event from the library in advance*
Creepy Crawlie Rhyme Time and Crafts
Wednesday September 1st 9.45- 10.30. For children aged under 7.

FURTHER AFIELD
FREE ARTS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN WILTSHIRE AT SALISBURY PLAYHOUSE AND SALISBURY ARTS CENTRE
Young people across the county are invited to a free day of arts workshops in Salisbury on Friday, July 30.
The YNM (Yes No Maybe) Creative Juice events will take place at Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre from 1.30pm for young people aged 13 to 21.
The workshops include Parkour, theatre, film, pottery, drumming, graffiti, an arts exhibition, dance, giant games and dressing up.
Young people who wish to take part in the events can register at either venue on the day from 1.30pm.
Both venues invite young people to explore their interests in the many art forms, from viewing visual art created by other local young people to actively engaging and performing on the day.
