At the beginning of a new year we often feel inspired to make a fresh start in all kinds of areas of our lives. However this year, as we’re all well aware, times are hard and most of us will be grateful to hold on to our job if we are lucky enough to have one.

A really user friendly site compared with many I’ve used, with a variety of methods for searching, Jobsite covers an incredibly broad range of sectors. Within the sectors I was searching there were more jobs I actually applied for on Jobsite than on any other site, and with no recruitment agencies in Marlborough anymore as far as I’m aware, it’s a pretty good place to start!

Walking around the High Street on Friday I noticed that a few local businesses are currently recruiting- obviously it’s worth checking they still are before you go to any trouble with applications....

The new Tesco expected to open soon at Salisbury Road Business Park (Marlborough Business Park) has a temporary recruitment centre in Angel Yard. Turn down the yard from the High Street and turn right- back on yourself- as you reach the end of the wall on your right. They are seeking permanent and temporary employees, both full time and part time.

Perhaps if you’re between jobs and want to make good use of your time you could spare a few hours a week to help charities locally? The Blue Cross, DebRA and Oxfam Books and Music all have signs in their window asking people to volunteer, and I’m sure Prospect Hospice and Helen and Douglas House wouldn’t turn anyone away!
