Theatre on the Hill, St John's School in Marlborough on Saturday, August 28 at 7.30pm.

The programme includes Pomp & Circumstance March No4 by Elgar, Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold, Flute Concerto by Reinecke, and Symphony No5 by Vaughan Williams.

The conductor is Stuart Stratford and the soloist for the Reinecke Flute Concerto is Robert Looman.

Robert, who joined the orchestra in 2007, has just completed his first year studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and has recently won the RNCM prize for improvisation.

The orchestra is made up of more than 70 of the most able young musicians from Wiltshire and Swindon who give up large stretches of their holidays to rehearse and perform major symphonic works.

The orchestra is currently preparing to visit Nanhai and Hong Kong in the autumn of 2010. The young people and their families have been working hard to raise funds for the tour to China and are now very close to their target. For more information, or to become a patron of the orchestra, contact Kate Macey from Wiltshire Council at kate.macey@wiltshire.gov.uk.

Valerie Hayward, Wiltshire Council's head of music, said: “The young people are all very committed to the orchestra and the tour to China will give them an opportunity to develop their skills, experience another culture, and to present excellent concerts to an international audience.”

Tickets costing £13 (£8 concessions) are available from the Wiltshire Music Centre box office on 01225 860100.

Date: Saturday, August 28, 2010
