Cancer Information Event, Saturday 4th February: Prevention, Support, Advice & Healthchecks

Do you care for someone affected by cancer?
Or would you like to ensure you take measures to prevent cancer?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, why not come to Carer Support Wiltshire's Cancer Information Event on Saturday 4th February.

It's being held at Salisbury Guildhall from 9am until 12:30pm and you're welcome to drop-in whenever you can.

There will be many cancer charities present on the day to offer information, support or advice including:
Marie Curie Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, Cancer Research UK, Kidney Cancer UK, Wessex Cancer Trust, Prospect Hospice, Salisbury Hospicecare, Dorothy House Hospice Care and Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Other features of the event include:

- MOLEWATCH: learn how to monitor your moles effectively for symptoms of skin cancer.
- DIETICIAN: providing healthy diet tips as well as BMI/weight checks.
- BREAST AWARENESS: 2 breast care nurses will be there with information and guidance on how to check your breasts properly. They will also have samples of mastectomy bras and swimming costumes.
- CHEMOTHERAPY NURSE: showing people some of the types of wigs on offer or to advise anyone experiencing hair loss as a result of chemotherapy.
- STOP SMOKING ADVISORS
- BENEFITS ADVISOR
- ALCOHOL AWARENESS
- CHOLESTEROL CHECKS
- USEFUL ORGANISATIONS: including Wiltshire Council Emergency Card, Department of Work and Pensions, Carer Support Wiltshire and Swan Advocacy.

At 10am a short address about Cancer prevention will be given by Maggie Rae, Director of Public Health & Public Protection for NHS Wiltshire and Wiltshire Council.

Together it is possible.
