I have seen in the Chamber News that the County Council has turned down the change of use of The Ivy House hotel. "Proposals to turn Marlborough´s Ivy House Hotel into a boarding house for pupils at Marlborough College have been rejected by county councillors." As a fast growing business in the town, we have a regular number of overseas visitors who need to stay in Marlborough. The idea of a smart boutique type hotel with a great restaurant at The Ivy House is something we would encourage and use!

If Marco Pierre-White does buy the Ivy House Hotel as reported in the local press then the town might acquire a London type restaurant.
Will this be a good thing?
If a buyer of the hotel business can't be found then surely the council must consider a change of use again as the hotel has been for sale for a long time?

Any investment to improve the quality of the accommodation and restaurant facilities to bring more tourists to Marlborough has to be a positive move.
