It's appalling! I have spent a huge amount of effort and time trying to get some satisfaction from Orange over the past 2 months but to no avail. Twice this week after lenghty calls from my landline I have been assured that someone would ring me back and this doesn't happen. I have been in touch with Offcom who have advised how to initiate a complaint and if necessary get CISAS involved. Like you I reckon there must be a whole host of people in the area similarly frustrated.
