Wiltshire Fire and Rescue will be holding an event in Marlborough focussing on fire safety during the Christmas festive period.

Between 9am-3pm staff from the Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as community safety staff will be in the town centre talking to shoppers and examining the roads in the area.

Members of the crew will also be checking trading stalls and shops to ensure fire exits are not blocked.

Wiltshire Station Manager, Dave Geddes said: "As part of the Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership's Christmas campaign, we thought it would be good to spend some time meeting with as many local people as possible, so we can highlight some of the risks that cause us concern over the festive period."

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are also currently promoting home fire safety visits and checking smoke alarms are working.

"We want everyone to have the best possible Christmas by staying safe wherever they are!" Dave Geddes added.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service will be in Marlborough high street Friday, 14, December 2012.
